M and S Gastropub Beef Stroganoff

M&S has hiked the price of its meal deal from £10 to £12. We reveal what's on the menu and whether the deal offers good value for money.

Marks & Spencer has hiked the price of its ever-popular M&S Dine In meal deal by a hefty £2 to £12.

Frustratingly, while there is a wider range of dishes to choose from under the new Dine In deal, you don't get anything extra for the higher price.

"The M&S Dine In offering has grown over the last few years, with the addition of Family Dine In from £15 and special occasion Dine In menus such as Valentine's Day at £20," said a spokesperson for M&S.

"The pricing varies to suit the occasion, and we're confident the £12 Dine In offers excellent quality and value, with the best brands within M&S being offered as part of the deal, including Our Best Ever and Gastropub dishes.

"The Gastropub range has been recently upgraded and perfected, with only the best quality ingredients, and prepared in a way that gives delivers unmistakable M&S quality."

Regular meal deal fans will know that M&S has been repeatedly chipping away at its Dine In offer in recent years: back in 2018, not only was it £2 cheaper, it also included a bottle of wine or non-alcoholic alternative in the offer.

So, is the M&S meal deal still worth getting?

Is the M&S £12 Dine In meal deal good value?

The M&S Dine In for two deal, which includes a main, side and a starter or dessert, still works out cheaper than buying the menu items separately despite the price hike.

For example, getting a beef lasagne, triple-cooked chips and sticky toffee pudding would set you back around £16 (based on M&S prices listed on Ocado), so you would save £4.

But it's worth flagging you save less with the Dine In deal compared to other M&S meal deals, which offer up to £11 in savings.

Also, there's no escaping the fact it provides far less value for money than rival offers like Tesco's £10 Finest meal deal especially after M&S removed the free drink from the deal in January 2021.

Given the wines included in meal deals generally cost around £7 on their own, the best value options tend to be those that come with a bottle of plonk.

We'll now go into the full options available in the M&S Dine In deal below and reveal which dishes have been added and removed since we last updated this article.

This will help you decide whether it still provides value for money based on your personal preferences.
